During Stewardship Friday your 5th Grader has learned about many different types of illnesses. They have also heard some very inspiring stories. They are also learning how they can help others with illnesses. During our January and February Stewardship Fridays they made Joke Jars and wrote letters for the Kids Cancer Alliance’s In-Hospital Program. Hospital stays can be long, stressful, and boring for kids facing cancer. Kids need an opportunity to just be kids-even in the hospital. Their Joke Jars will bring comfort and smiles and help them better cope with their hospital stay.
On May 13th they will have one more opportunity to serve others with a serious illness. We will help setup, serve and cleanup breakfast and lunch for Kid’s Cancer Alliance Family Weekend Retreat. We will have half of our volunteers help with breakfast and half help with lunch. The service project is at the Country Lake Retreat Center located at 815 Country Lake Road, Underwood, Indiana. This is an optional service project.
Deadline to sign up is Wednesday, May 10th. We will let everyone know which meal they will be working on Thursday, May 11th.
