On Sunday, February 21, 2016, The St. Vincent de Paul Society held their annual induction and awards ceremony at Holy Spirit Church in Louisville. This event includes welcoming new members to the society and also presents awards to the ‘stand out’ volunteers of the year.
We are pleased to announce that the 2015 Ozanam Medal for Outstanding Dedication and Service to the Community was presented to our very own parishioner Amy Douglas! The Medal is named for Frédéric Ozanam, a French scholar and founder of the Conference of Charity, later known as the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and is presented to one who exemplifies the spirit of Ozanam and dedication to the society.
Amy is a long-time member of the conference and currently serves as our treasurer. She spends hours on the phone returning calls to people who reach out to us for help with utilities and food assistance. She keeps our books balanced and our records up to date, works diligently to secure grants to keep us in a position to monetarily assist clients, delivers donations to the SVDP Thrift Store, and recruits new members. She has even gone so far as to assist people out of her own pocket! Amy is a shining example of what it means to give from the heart, because of what she puts into her work.
Thank you Amy for all that you do and know that your St. Anthony family is proud of you!
“Her compassion and dedication to each client and their needs are unparalleled. She has an unwavering way of making people feel good even in bad situations. She excels in counseling
and needs of her clients. She continues to marvel us all by her dedication and support of the
Society of St. Vincent de Paul.”
