"Working with Habitat for Humanity was such an amazing experience for me. Having the opportunity to help build a house for someone is something I’ll never forget. We got to paint trim and siding, hang part of the roofing, and work on caulking. I learned a lot more than I thought I would, and it was so much more fun than I expected! Hearing about the family and meeting the mom was incredible. It made it all so real and pushed us to work as hard as we could. I can’t wait to drive by the house when it is complete and know that my friends and I helped build it." ~ Katie Baker
"I recently had an amazing opportunity to help out at Habitat for Humanity. I worked with groups that were given different tasks for the day. It was amazing to see people come together to build a house for a family in need. I learned so much about what all goes into building a house. The home is for a single mom and her two children. Her youngest daughter has special needs and is in a wheel chair. In the new house her daughter will finally be able to move from room to room without worrying about her chair getting stuck. I look forward to seeing the house when it is all complete!" ~ Natalie Gallegos
"I never thought I would find myself helping build a house because I’ve never been a girl who has known a lot about working with tools or construction work. However, when our youth minister Mrs. Gillenwater presented me with the opportunity, I couldn’t turn it down. Volunteering is a big part
of my life, and this sounded like such a fun and amazing opportunity. I thought that I would probably help with small jobs, but when I got there, I was climbing up ladders, cutting and bending metal, and nailing on the soffit of the house. I did things I would have never imagined I would ever do. I got to help a wonderful family who is need of a new home, and I also got to learn so much through this experience. It was one of the most amazing volunteer opportunities I’ve ever participated in, and I am so blessed
I got to be a part of it. ~ Hannah Hanlon
