I can honestly say March for Life has been one of the best experiences in my life. The March this year was even bigger and even better. President Donald Trump spoke at the pre-rally and became the first president to do so. He was very inspiring and gave everyone new information on his plans to stop abortion. Many abortion survivors also spoke and their powerful words will go on to persuade more people of the cruelness of abortion. The abortion conflict has been going on for many years and the prolife side is growing and growing in support. Many people compare the debate to the holocaust because in a way abortion is the 21st century holocaust. About 12 million people were killed in the holocaust and 60 million in counting are being aborted. The hundreds of thousands of people that attended brought a feel of unity considering every person is so different. When you realize you are surrounded by that many people and you are all fighting for the same cause, it’s breathtaking. Overall, the March was fun, exhilarating, and inspirational in every way. I am very much looking forward to attending March for Life again next year! ~ Mercedes Benjamin
Last Year after the March I was able to help start the Pro-Life Club. This was amazing because we are now a close group of friends. This year I was also able to attend the March and was able to grow so much closer to these friends. I even met a new one who found the bright side of everything. We were all tested in one way or another. For me it was sleeping on the floor both nights. But the most important thing I found is that a smile and saying hi to anyone, any race, gender, or age, is that you make their day. The coolest thing I got to witness was President Trump being the first president to attend the March for Life. It was amazing to see that he is on our side. ~ Andrew Singleton
On my trip to Washington, DC for ‘March for Life’ I expected to see maybe a few thousand people standing outside the capitals building with a few signs stating that abortion is a terrible thing. Not only did I see this, but I saw nearly a half a million more people march approximately a mile across the district to protest abortion. Seeing the mass number of people all wanting to help towards the same pro-life cause was so moving. I could never have imagined how touching this experience was, and you as a reader cannot either. I would highly encourage each and every member of the St. Anthony parish as well as the entire deanery to go, because it is life changing to support a cause that is a wide known political argument as well as to stand with thousands and thousands of other humans trying to save other humans, both born and un-born. ~ Jake Miller
The March for Life was a unique and awesome experience. There were around 550,000 people all unified under one cause, Life. President Trump even came to speak to us supporting us and the pro-life cause. It’s the first time in history that a U.S. President has spoken at a March for Life rally. During the rally itself, I saw many different people with many different views. It was really cool to watch how everyone came together peacefully to argue their beliefs. During the pre-rally, there was a video that I found to be very impactful and resounding. It was a video of several people who were abortion survivors all saying things like “Look me in the eyes and tell me that I deserved to die”. Then on top of that in the rally I saw people holding signs saying “I had an abortion and I regret it”, this also stuck with me. Regarding both it caused me to feel deeply inspired because if these people have the courage to come out in front of everyone and admit their mistakes in the hope that they can help change someone’s mind and save a life, then I can 100% give my all to this. Overall the March for Life was deeply impacting, and allowed me to see both sides of the argument which overall just solidified my beliefs. I would really like to go back next year and show my support for this cause. It’s a unique and amazing experience that I feel everyone should have the opportunity to experience. The fight for Life is not exclusive to one single group or person, it is inclusive of everyone regardless of age, gender, background, appearance, or beliefs. We Fight for Life because it’s Right and with Jesus’ Might we’ll win the Fight. ~ Alex Rousselle
I was glad to see so many people from around the country come together for one cause, to stop abortion. While on the March, a group of us decided to pray the Rosary. The whole experience was beautiful and I can’t wait to go next year. ~ Aidan Singleton
Freshman to High School Seniors
January 22, 2020 marked the 47th anniversary of the tragic U.S. Supreme Court decision
in the case of Roe v. Wade. Since that date there have been nearly
60 MILLION US children aborted. Globally that number is almost 2 BILLION!
We traveled with others from the New Albany Deanery to Washington DC for the 2020 March for Life which was held January 22-25, 2020. The DC march is the world’s largest annual pro-life rally. Over 400,000 people from all over the country unite to stand up for the unborn and protest the evil of abortion. The march is a great opportunity for us to stand up for the sanctity of life and to demonstrate our Catholic values and beliefs in a way that truly can make a difference.
For the first time in our nation’s history, the President of the United States addressed the March For Life attendees, and he was met with a very enthusiastic crowd. One of the highlights was when President Trump stated, “The life movement is led by strong women, amazing faith leaders, and brave students who carry on the legacy of pioneers before us who fought to raise the conscience of our nation and uphold the rights of our citizens.“ We also heard from dynamic speakers such as Charlotte Pence, author & daughter of Vice President, Mike Pence.
Along with participating in the actual march on Friday afternoon, we also attended Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and visted the March for Life Expo Hall to get connected with over 80 pro-life organizations and ministries. We also had the chance to visit some exciting historical sites in and around downtown DC!
