Time,
talent and
treasure is the catchphrase for stewardship in the Catholic Church.
Each has a distinct focus.
Time is time given to God in prayer, reading the Bible and studying the Catholic faith.
My recommended readings for 2020 are:
1) The Gospel of Matthew; we begin the year of Matthew at the Sunday Masses this Advent.
2) “Bearing False Witness: Debunking Centuries of Anti-Catholic History” by Rodney Stark
as a way for many to regain appreciation and pride in our Catholic Church.
If you prefer movies to reading, many quality video programs and family oriented movies are
available through the new FORMED.org website. Sign up for a personal account using our
Parish Code F82NCM.
Talent is work given to God’s Church. The focus is the action given to the community. It is offering a sacrifice to God. Though the word talent is used, quite often what needs to be done requires little skill or ability.
Treasure is our “tithe,” a percentage of our income offered to assist the needs of the Church and it’s mission.
